highest payout online casino ireland - roulette wheel close-up

Search "highest payout online casino" and you'll get lists of sites shouting about 98% or 99% payout rates. Here's the thing nobody tells you up front: the casino matters less than the games you play inside it, the rules on those games, and how quickly and cheaply you can get your winnings back out. Two players at the same site can be paying wildly different prices for their fun. This guide breaks down what "payout" actually means, which games give back the most, how much each one really costs you per hour in euro, how rakeback and rebates fit in, and what to check about withdrawals before you deposit a cent.

18+ only. General information, not gambling advice. Figures are typical published values or made-up examples to show the maths, and every casino game has a house edge, so over time the casino wins. Ireland's regulator, the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI), has not yet issued online casino (gaming) licences; GRAI says gaming licence applications open in 2027–2028. Offshore crypto casinos such as Cloudbet (which we link to and which holds a Curaçao licence), VegasAces and SlotsParadise are not licensed in Ireland, so no Irish regulator can help in a dispute. If gambling is causing you worry, Gambling Care is free and open 24/7 on 1800 936 725 (Northern Ireland: 08000 886 725).

The short answer

What "payout" means: RTP vs house edge

Every casino game is built so the house keeps a small slice of every bet over time. You'll see that slice described two ways:

The key word is wagered, not deposited. If you deposit €100 and spin it round and round, winning some and losing some, you might wager €1,000 or more before the balance runs out. At a 4% edge, the expected cost of €1,000 wagered is €40. That's why turnover, not your deposit, decides how much a casino session costs you on average.

When a casino says it has a "payout rate" of 97% or 98%, it's usually an average across every game and every player on the site, sometimes checked by a testing lab. It's a rough guide to the site's game mix, but it tells you nothing about the game you personally play. Your own payout depends on which games you pick and how you play them.

Which casino games pay back the most

Here's a table of typical house edges for common online casino games. These are widely published figures for standard rules and, where skill is involved, correct play. Real games vary, so always check the RTP shown in the game's own info screen or help file.

Game or betTypical house edgeTypical RTPExpected cost per €1,000 wagered
Video poker 9/6 Jacks or Better (perfect play)~0.46%~99.54%€4.60
Blackjack, good rules, basic strategy~0.5%~99.5%€5.00
Crypto dice / Plinko / Mines style games (common setting)~1%~99%€10.00
Baccarat, banker bet~1.06%~98.94%€10.60
Baccarat, player bet~1.24%~98.76%€12.40
European roulette (single zero)2.70%97.30%€27.00
Typical online slot~4%~96%€40.00
American roulette (double zero)5.26%94.74%€52.60
Lower-RTP slot version~6%~94%€60.00
Baccarat tie bet (paying 8 to 1)~14.4%~85.6%€143.60
Keno (typical)often 20%+often under 80%€200+

Two things jump out. First, the gap between the best and worst games is enormous: the baccarat tie costs about thirty times as much per euro wagered as decent blackjack. Second, the "skill" games only pay back that much if you play them properly. Blackjack played on hunches can easily cost 2% or more, and video poker played badly loses a lot of its edge too.

Blackjack: high payout, if the rules are right

Blackjack is usually the highest-paying table game you'll find, but the rules move the needle. The biggest one is the blackjack payout itself: a natural should pay 3 to 2. Tables that pay 6 to 5 add well over a percentage point to the house edge, which wipes out most of what makes blackjack attractive. Other rules that matter are whether the dealer stands on soft 17, whether you can double after splitting, and how many decks are used. A basic strategy chart for the exact rules on your table gets you close to the lowest edge the game offers. Skip insurance: it's a side bet with a big edge against you.

Video poker: the highest RTP of all, on the right pay table

Video poker is one of the few casino games where you can see the RTP straight from the pay table. In Jacks or Better, look at what a full house and a flush pay for one coin. "9/6" (9 for a full house, 6 for a flush) is the full-pay version with roughly 99.5% return under perfect play. "8/5" drops to around 97.3%, and "6/5" to about 95%. Same game, same graphics, very different price. VegasAces, for example, lists a video poker section in its lobby; check each game's pay table before you play.

Baccarat: bet the banker, skip the tie

Baccarat needs no skill. The banker bet has the lowest edge, around 1.06% with the standard 5% commission, and the player bet is close behind at about 1.24%. The tie bet looks tempting at 8 to 1 but carries an edge of roughly 14%. Some "no commission" tables pay only half on a banker win with a total of 6, which lifts the banker edge to roughly 1.46%. Still decent, but read the table rules.

Roulette: only ever play the single-zero wheel

European roulette has one green zero and a 2.70% house edge on almost every bet. American roulette adds a double zero and nearly doubles the edge to 5.26%. Some tables offer "la partage" or "en prison" rules, which return half your even-money stake when zero lands and cut the edge on those bets to about 1.35%. If you see one, that's the best roulette table in the lobby.

Slots: the RTP is in the help screen, and it can vary

Slots are where payout rates vary most. Many game providers release the same slot in several RTP versions, and the casino chooses which one to run. The game you know as a 96% slot elsewhere might be set to 94% at a different site. The only way to know is to open the game, find the info or help screen, and look for the RTP figure. If a casino hides it or won't tell you, that's a red flag in itself.

Slots also differ in volatility. A high-volatility slot pays rarely but big; a low-volatility one pays small amounts often. Volatility doesn't change the average cost, but it changes how a session feels and how fast a balance can disappear.

Crypto "originals": dice, Plinko, Mines and crash

Crypto casinos often host simple in-house games with a stated edge, commonly around 1%, and many are "provably fair", which means you can check each result with cryptographic seeds. That makes their RTP easy to verify. The catch is speed: these games can run hundreds of rounds an hour, which pushes up your hourly cost. Our provably fair guide explains how the checks work.

RTP isn't the full story: the hourly cost

A low house edge is only half the picture. The other half is how much you wager per hour. Here's a made-up comparison at typical speeds and stakes, worked out as wager per hour × house edge:

GameStakeRounds per hourWagered per hourHouse edgeExpected cost per hour
Blackjack (basic strategy)€570€3500.5%€1.75
Baccarat banker€570€3501.06%€3.71
Crypto dice€1600€6001%€6.00
European roulette€560€3002.70%€8.10
96% slot€1600€6004%€24.00
94% slot€1600€6006%€36.00

A €1 slot looks cheaper than a €5 blackjack hand, but at 600 spins an hour it costs over ten times as much on average. If you want your money to last, slow the game down: turn off autoplay and turbo modes, and take breaks. That single habit can do more for your "payout" than switching sites.

What a higher RTP actually feels like

To show how RTP plays out in real sessions, we ran a simple simulation of 500 spins at €1 on three made-up slots with the same volatility but different RTPs, repeated 10,000 times each.

Slot RTPAverage result after 500 spinsMiddle (median) resultSessions that finished ahead
94%−€31.90−€88.7029.7%
96%−€20.00−€79.2031.5%
97%−€15.70−€75.5032.1%

The averages line up with the maths (about 6%, 4% and 3% of €500 wagered). But look at the median: in a typical session you lose more than the average, because a handful of big wins drag the average up. A higher RTP helps, but it doesn't change the basic shape: most sessions end down, a few end well up. That's how slots are designed.

Rakeback, rebates and bonuses: money back that changes the maths

After the games themselves, the biggest lever on your real payout is what the casino gives back. There are three main types.

Rakeback

Rakeback returns a slice of the house edge on what you wager. Cloudbet's Welcome Package (terms 8.4) is a 30-day programme activated by your first deposit of any amount, with the 30 days starting from your first bet after that deposit. It includes casino rakeback of 10% of the house edge (sports bets don't earn rakeback), plus daily casino cash drops and weekly sports cash drops, up to a stated maximum of $2,500. Here's what 10% rakeback is worth on €2,000 of casino wagering:

GameHouse edgeExpected cost on €2,000Rakeback (10% of edge)Net expected cost
Blackjack0.5%€10.00€1.00€9.00
Crypto dice1%€20.00€2.00€18.00
European roulette2.7%€54.00€5.40€48.60
96% slot4%€80.00€8.00€72.00

Rakeback trims the cost by a tenth. It's a genuine perk with no rollover attached to the rakeback itself, but it doesn't turn a losing game into a winning one. After the welcome period, Cloudbet's Rewards programme has permanent tiers based on lifetime turnover, with level-up rewards as you climb. Our safest online casino checklist covers what else to look at before signing up.

Loss rebates

Some casinos refund part of your net losses. VegasAces' promotions page, for example, lists a 10% weekly rebate on net losses up to $500, with 15x wagering on the rebate and a $500 maximum cashout, credited by Monday noon. The wagering requirement means part of that rebate will be lost back to the house edge before you can withdraw it, so it's worth less than its face value.

Deposit bonuses

Big match bonuses look like extra payout, but rollover changes everything. VegasAces' ACES250 offer is listed as 250% up to $1,000 on the first deposit with 35x wagering on deposit plus bonus. On a $100 deposit that's $350 in balance and $12,250 to wager. At a 4% slot edge, the expected cost of that wagering is about $490, which is more than the whole balance. Bonuses like this are lottery tickets, not value, unless you play very low-edge games that count towards wagering, and the terms often limit which games those are. Cloudbet's terms 8.5, for instance, count live and virtual table games at only 10% toward bonus wagering.

The rule of thumb: rakeback and cash rebates with little or no rollover usually add more to your real payout than a large bonus with heavy wagering.

The other "payout": how fast you get paid

Plenty of Irish players searching for the highest payout casino mean something simpler: who pays out quickly and without hassle. Here's what to check.

Payout methods

ID checks (KYC)

The most common reason a payout stalls is identity verification. At Cloudbet, terms 18.1.5 set Level 1 limits at cumulative deposits of US$2,200; passing Level 2 (ID, proof of address and a face check) removes them. VegasAces says ID may be required "at times", including government ID, proof of address in some cases, and proof of card ownership. Get verified before you need a big withdrawal and it'll go a lot more smoothly.

Turning crypto back into euro

A crypto payout isn't euro in your bank yet. You'll usually send it to an exchange and sell it, paying a spread and possibly a fee. If the price moves while it's in transit, you can gain or lose. Our crypto withdrawal guide walks through it step by step.

Payout red flags

Live dealer vs RNG tables: does the payout change?

The rules decide the house edge, not whether a real dealer is shuffling. A live European roulette wheel has the same 2.70% edge as an RNG (random number generator) version, and live blackjack with good rules is just as kind as the digital game. The difference is speed and stake size. Live tables run far fewer rounds an hour, often 30 to 60 hands of blackjack or about 30 to 40 roulette spins, so your hourly cost is usually lower. On the other hand, minimum stakes at live tables tend to be higher, and live game shows with big multipliers often carry much bigger edges than classic table games. Check each game's help screen for its stated RTP before you sit down. Also remember the bonus point from earlier: some casinos count live table play at a small fraction toward wagering, so live games and bonuses rarely mix well.

Progressive jackpots: big prizes, lower everyday payout

Jackpot slots feed part of every stake into a growing prize pot. That money has to come from somewhere, so the base game usually pays back less than a comparable non-jackpot slot. The headline RTP of a progressive often includes the jackpot itself, which only a tiny number of players will ever hit. For the rest of us, the "everyday" return is lower than the figure suggests. If you're chasing a steady payout rather than a life-changing long shot, skip the progressives. If you do play them, treat the stake as a ticket in a very big raffle and keep it small.

How to read a slot's info screen in 30 seconds

  1. Open the game and look for an "i", "?", "paytable" or menu icon.
  2. Scroll to the rules or game information page and find the RTP line. It may say "theoretical return", "expected payback" or similar.
  3. If the game has features like bonus buys, look for separate RTP figures; buying a bonus can carry a slightly different return.
  4. Note any volatility rating (low, medium, high, or a scale of bolts or stars).
  5. Check the maximum win cap. Some slots cap a single win at a set multiple of your stake.
  6. Compare with the same game at another casino if you can. If the RTP figure is lower, you've found a cheaper version elsewhere.

It takes less time than making a cup of tea, and it's the one bit of research that directly changes your payout.

Are payout percentages audited?

Regulated game studios usually have their games tested by independent labs before release, and some casinos publish monthly payout reports from auditors. Those reports describe the average return across all players and games over a period; they don't promise anything about your own sessions. Crypto originals that are provably fair let you check individual results yourself. Either way, the most reliable number for you is the RTP printed in the specific game you're playing at the specific site you're on.

How to get the highest payout at any casino: a checklist

  1. Pick low-edge games: blackjack with 3:2 payouts, 9/6 video poker, baccarat banker, single-zero roulette, or crypto games with a stated ~1% edge.
  2. Check the RTP in each slot's info screen and compare versions.
  3. Play correctly on skill games: use a basic strategy chart for blackjack and the right holds for video poker.
  4. Slow down: no turbo, no autoplay, fewer rounds per hour.
  5. Avoid side bets and long-shot table bets like the baccarat tie.
  6. Take rakeback and low-rollover cashback over big wagering-heavy bonuses.
  7. Verify your ID early so withdrawals aren't held.
  8. Withdraw winnings rather than leaving them in your balance to play through.
  9. Know the licence position before you deposit.

A made-up night out, two ways

Picture two friends in Galway, each with €100 and two hours to play.

Player one plays a 94% slot at €1 a spin on turbo, around 700 spins an hour. That's roughly €1,400 wagered over two hours and an expected cost of about €84. Odds are the €100 is mostly gone before the second hour ends.

Player two plays €5 blackjack hands with basic strategy at about 70 hands an hour, around €700 wagered and an expected cost of about €3.50, minus a little rakeback. Same casino, same budget, and one night costs about twenty-four times as much as the other on average. Luck can swing either result a long way, but that's what "highest payout" really looks like.

Payout jargon, translated

Is any online casino legal in Ireland?

Ireland's Gambling Regulation Act set up the GRAI, which started licensing remote betting in 2026. According to GRAI, the first remote betting licences commenced on 1 July 2026, while gaming (casino) licence applications are scheduled to open in 2027–2028. GRAI has also warned that promoting unlicensed operators can be a criminal offence. Offshore casinos, including the ones mentioned here, are not licensed in Ireland, so you'd have no Irish complaints route. Read our guide on whether online casinos are legal in Ireland before you play anywhere.

Our take

There's no magic "highest payout casino" that turns the odds in your favour. What you can control is the game, the rules, the speed of play, the rewards you take, and how smoothly you get paid. Stick to low-edge games played properly, check the RTP before you spin, slow down, take rakeback over rollover-heavy bonuses, and verify your account before you need a withdrawal. Do that and you'll keep more of your money at any casino, wherever you play.

Questions players ask

Which online casino has the highest payout in Ireland?

No single site wins on every game. Your payout depends mostly on the games you choose. Blackjack with good rules, full-pay video poker, baccarat banker and low-edge crypto games pay back the most at any casino.

What does RTP mean at an online casino?

Return to player is the share of all money wagered that a game pays back over the long run. A 96% RTP game keeps about 4% of everything wagered on it, on average.

What casino game has the best odds?

Full-pay 9/6 Jacks or Better video poker and blackjack with 3:2 payouts and basic strategy both have house edges around 0.5%. The baccarat banker bet is close at about 1.06%.

Do higher RTP slots pay out more often?

Not necessarily. RTP is the long-run average return. How often a slot pays depends on its volatility, which is a separate setting.

Can the same slot have different RTPs?

Yes. Many providers release several RTP versions of a game and the casino picks one. Check the RTP in the game's info screen at the site you're playing.

Which casinos pay out the fastest?

Crypto casinos are usually quickest. Cloudbet says withdrawals are typically processed within 24 hours. ID checks are the most common cause of delays, so verify your account early.

Is rakeback better than a deposit bonus?

Often, yes. Rakeback is money back on the house edge with no big rollover, while large deposit bonuses usually carry wagering requirements that cost more than they're worth.

Are online casinos licensed in Ireland?

GRAI has not issued online casino licences yet; gaming licence applications are scheduled for 2027 to 2028. Offshore casinos like Cloudbet are not licensed in Ireland.
